EV Easy 16A vs 32A: Which Model Is Right for You?

When buying a portable EV charger (Portable EV Charger), you should consider how well it suits your home electrical system, for maximum safety and performance. Today EV Easy summarises the key recommendations in an easy-to-understand way, with a comparison between the 16A and 32A models, as follows:

EV Easy 16A model - plugs straight into a household socket

Suitable for those who want convenience, with no additional wiring needed

  • Works with standard household sockets (16A / 220V)
  • Ready to use straight away in typical homes
  • Use a socket and cabling that meet standards (2.5 sq.mm or more)
  • Use a 20A breaker
  • Do not use with extension leads or non-standard multi-plug adaptors

EV Easy 32A model – requires a dedicated circuit and a Power Plug socket

Suitable for those who want faster charging, but the electrical system must be prepared before use

  • Cannot be plugged into a normal household socket (16A / 220V)
  • Must be used with a dedicated Power Plug socket
  • Recommended cable size: 6–10 sq.mm
  • Use a 40A breaker
  • Usually comes with a Power Plug adaptor and accessories
  • If you need to use the adaptor with a household socket, you must set the current down appropriately (e.g. 8–16A)

EV Easy recommends:

Both the EV Easy 16A and 32A models offer international-standard quality, safety and ease of use

  • IP65 water protection
  • Automatic power cut-off when a fault occurs
  • A range of current settings
  • The warranty period depends on the product model; see each model's product page for its warranty period

If you want convenience and safety, the 16A model is the answer

If you want faster charging and your electrical system is ready, the 32A model is the better choice
